THE MAKING OF A PROSTHETIC

With totally realistic results

Our ocular prosthetic has been developed using the most state-of-the-art and reliable materials that advancements in technology provide. We use acrylic resins that are anti-allergenic, long-lasting, and aesthetically appealing.

We believe that communication with the prosthetic patient is fundamental to the proper fitting of an ocular prosthetic, and we take into consideration the psychological state of the patient with the help of the ocularist’s experience and professionalism.

We begin by using an impression mold or other advanced fitting techniques to precisely contour or manipulate the anophthalmic socket.

We then apply an analytical system, using the healthy eye as a model, that allows us to reproduce all the chromatic elements of the iris, the tonality of the sclera, and the corresponding vasculature.

The next step is to fit the ocular prosthetic by adapting it to the needs of each patient.

We work in a team to provide each of our patients with the highest-quality service. Our approach is unique in our field, encouraging peer review to obtain the best possible results. Our team has developed advanced techniques in art and sculpture to recreate the totally real appearance of our ocular prosthetics.

These techniques focus on carefully combining the contours and folds of the eyelid along with other features involved in achieving facial symmetry.

SCLERAL SHELLS

Deterioration of the eyeball’s appearance can be successfully corrected with the use of a thin piece that covers it completely.

The medical term for an eye in this condition is phthisis bulbi. We have a unique technique for the manufacturing of this type of piece that uses detailed coloring to perfectly match the original eye.

In addition, at ArtLens we use a special symmetric secondary enlargement technique to open the eyelid.

In this type of case, the ocular prosthetic has extraordinary movement because the natural eye remains under the piece, giving the prosthetic almost a full range of motion.

How to make the ocular prosthetic as realistic and comfortable as possible

3D iris color

Using a digital graphics process that brings together digital technology and the fine arts, we replicate the natural structure of the eye and the color of the iris to produce a spectacular 3D effect.

Anti-allergenic layer

Our manufacturing process adds a new dimension by incorporating an anti-allergenic layer onto the posterior side of the ocular prosthetic that leaves the piece totally encapsulated.

24-hour service

Our express service requires only one night in Barcelona to produce your prosthetic eye. We also offer a same-day delivery service.

IN CASE OF
SURGERY
