WHAT IS
LOW VISION?

A person is considered to have low vision when even the best conventional optical correction does not provide sufficient visual acuity for the person to be able to perform certain everyday tasks or activities.

HOW DO LOW VISION

TYPES OF AIDS

Distance optical aids:
pocket telescopes, monocular or binocular spectacle-mounted telescopes, with fixed or variable focus

Near vision optical aids:
magnifying glasses, telemicroscopes, spectacle-mounted microscopes, monoculars, binoculars, bifocals

Electronic aids:
pocket, car, or handheld video magnifiers, computer screen magnifiers

Special filters:
to prevent glare and provide greater contrast.

Non-optical aids:
lamps, macrotypes (poker cards...), lecterns... Complementary aids offering better ergonomics, greater contrast, and lighting
