PRODUCING A PROSTHESIS

OCULAR PROSTHESES HAVE EVOLVED TOGETHER WITH THE MOST ADVANCED AND RELIABLE MATERIALS THAT TECHNIQUE AND PROGRESS CAN PROVIDE US WITH. THESE ARE ACRYLIC, ANTI-ALLERGIC RESINS, WHICH ARE LONG-LASTING AND THAT LOOK GOOD AESTHETICALLY.

WE BELIEVE THAT THE BASIS OF WELL FITTED OCULAR PROSTHESES IS PROSTHETIC- PATIENT COMMUNICATION.

To make a mould from the patient’s eye socket, filling it with casting material. This enables perfect fibre adaptation and for an exact copy of the orbital socket.

In a great number of cases, whether with an enucleation, evisceration or ocular eyeball atrophy, the individual making of moulds allows for the transmission of socket movements to the ocular prosthesis, thereby giving greater vitality and dynamism.

The terminaday imprint taken faithfully reproduces the size, area and shape of the future ocular prostheses. Subsequently, we put a system of analysis into practice, using the healthy eye as model, which allows us to reproduce all the iris’ chromatic elements, scleral tonality and corresponding vascularization.

Given that our ocular prostheses are entirely hand-crafted, we can allow for any existing peculiarity.

Once the prosthesis has been made, it goes on to be polished to perfection, thereby avoiding irritation to the conjunctive and giving it the necessary natural shine.

The next step is to fit the ocular prosthesis onto the patient, adjusting it to the needs of each patient.

The plastic material (polymethyl-methacrylate) displays a series of very positive properties for adjusting to the orbital socket.

Finally, we give instructions for the maintenance and use of the ocular prosthesis.
